The Southwest Florida Chinese Association (西南佛州华人协会) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting Chinese culture. All are welcome.
Mission Statement The mission of the Southwest Florida Chinese Association is 1. To preserve, share, and promote Chinese cultural traditions throughout Southwest Florida. 2. To provide a wide range of cultural programs and events that enrich our members and the broader community. 3. Establishment of the Southwest Florida Chinese Association
The Southwest Florida Chinese Association (SWFCA) was founded in 1993 during a time when more ethnic Chinese families were making Southwest Florida their home, yet no cultural organization existed to support their needs. In response, Jerry Ma and several friends formally registered the association with the State of Florida as a cultural nonprofit dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese virtues, charitable service, and healthy community activities.
For more than 33 years, SWFCA has flourished thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the support of both the Chinese community and friends of many nationalities. We continue to welcome individuals with passion and talent to help carry our mission forward and shine the light of humanitarian values throughout our region.

SWFCA proudly hosts three major annual cultural celebrations that bring together families, friends, and neighbors from across Southwest Florida:
Our Work Doesn't Stop at These Signature Events
Beyond our signature festivals, SWFCA is actively engaged in year‑round community service and cultural outreach. We show up wherever our community needs us—whether we are celebrating Spring Festival with the Pace Center for Girls, supporting the New Year of Hope fundraising for the Children’s Hospital, participating in the FGCU International Reception, or joining local cultural celebrations across Southwest Florida. These initiatives reflect our belief that culture is not only celebrated at festivals—it is lived, shared, and used to uplift others every day.
Looking Ahead
We are expanding our programs to serve even more families, students, and future leaders. Upcoming initiatives include: SWFCA Scholarship Program, Community Art Exhibitions, Chinese Language Challenge, Youth & Family Chess Clubs …and much more to come. Our Regional Community
SWFCA serves the broader Southwest Florida region—a coastal area known for its beaches, golf courses, and vibrant multicultural communities. The region includes four metropolitan areas: North Port–Bradenton–Sarasota, Cape Coral–Fort Myers, Naples–Marco Island, Punta Gorda. In October 2017, National Geographic ranked the Naples–Immokalee–Marco Island area 11th among the top 25 happiest cities in the United States.

- Chinese New Year Celebration Our largest and most vibrant event of the year, featuring traditional performances, festive cuisine, community awards, and activities that honor the Lunar New Year.
- Duan Wu Festival (Dragon Boat Festival) A beloved tradition celebrating health, teamwork, and cultural heritage through hands‑on activities such as zongzi wrapping, dragon boat‑themed crafts, and community gatherings.
- Mid‑Autumn Festival A joyful celebration of reunion and gratitude, featuring moon‑viewing traditions, lantern activities, storytelling, and the sharing of mooncakes.

Our National Affiliation
SWFCA became a chapter of United Chinese Americas (UCA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, in 2022. This affiliation provides access to national resources and networks while allowing SWFCA to remain firmly rooted in serving the Southwest Florida community.
